Sanctuaries: the joy and comfort of the revolution - October 2025
in collaboration with Multicultural Peers Project (MPP)
Through the act of radical imagination, we begin to render places of safety for our communities; each moment of joy, we deepen this possibility. For MPP & Betchouf, a sanctuary, like our art, is more than a temporary space; it is an act of resistance and a necessary tool of survival.
Our collective communities are facing violence and insecurity across the earth, leading us to question: how can safety be achieved through the structure of a sanctuary? What does a sanctuary represent? How do you share it with others?
This experimental exhibition space attempts to share a few of the many sanctuaries that we hope to extend beyond borders and binaries.

Multicultural Peers Project (MPP) is dedicated to providing inclusive mental health and community support to queer & trans youth from Middle Eastern, North African, South Asian & Muslim backgrounds in NSW. Our mission is to create a culturally relevant, emotionally safe environment where young people can find the support they need, build meaningful connections, and celebrate their identities with pride and dignity.
